Course Description

This course offers participants the opportunity to acquire hands-on practices and techniques on sustainability. The primary focus will be on how to support leading a sustainable lifestyle by co-creation methods.

This course is designed for every level of teachers, as the main focus touches upon climate crisis effects on biomes, theoretical information transformation to local actions, joining and creating citizen science. The planned activities also include the promotion of sustainability through community building.

Everyone who has ever attended school has experienced at some point how they can be dragged down by an unsupportive teacher. 

In this intensive 5-day course, participants will be demonstrated how and why it happens and how teachers and educators can avoid making mistakes. It is pretty sure that it will be relevant to each age group as we are longing for a supportive environment throughout our whole life.

The course will address the chaIlenges for teachers to create a learning environment in which students feel absolutely safe and motivated to study new things. Educators will be empowered on how to support their students if they face difficulties at home and that is why they are unable to concentrate on their studies or what to do in case they lack confidence and as a result they can not demonstrate their skills and abilities as well as they could. Participants will be provided with various tools to help boost their students’ confidence and self-esteem. The course will discuss why students sometimes lack self-assurance and how teachers can help them from the onset by creating a community of the classroom in which learning and all the learning activities are fun. The course will assist participants implement these technologies into practice.

It is certain everyone will be able to bring back some useful ideas with them. The course doesn’t only aim to talk to educators but also to parents, coaches and researchers. In terms of educators, the course is planned to be applicable to every subject.

Objectives

  1. Understanding the importance of creating a positive learning environment and demonstrating how I helped my students move forward just by positive reinforcement making them believe in themselves and their abilities
  2. Discussing „can-do” statements
  3. Analyzing  problems in the education system and how we as teachers should overcome it
  4. Going through ideas and deciding what seems to be the most effective way to make students communicate by showing interest and help them a little by sharing stories from your own life and experience
  5. Discussing issues with different generations and how to work with them
  6. Learning how to implement humour in education as a means of breaking

Learning Outcomes

  1. Create and Maintain a Positive Learning Environment. Demonstrate the ability to foster a positive learning environment through the use of positive reinforcement, helping students believe in themselves and their abilities.
  2. Utilize “Can-Do” Statements in Instruction. Discuss and apply “can-do” statements to encourage student engagement and progress in their learning journey.
  3. Analyze and Address Educational System Challenges. Analyze problems within the education system and propose strategies for teachers to overcome these challenges effectively.
  4. Promote Student Communication through Personal Experience. Evaluate various approaches to enhance student communication and demonstrate how sharing personal stories and experiences can motivate students and promote engagement.
  5. Work Effectively with Different Generations of Learners. Discuss the challenges associated with teaching students from different generations and develop strategies to address their unique needs in the classroom.
  6. Implement Humor as a Teaching Tool, learn how to incorporate humor into education to break barriers and create a more dynamic and engaging learning experience.

Price:Budapest: €430 (5 days), Ulm: €510 (5 days) - including an extracurricular activity and a welcome lunch or dinner

*The language of the course is English, linguistic aid may be provided for speakers of Hungarian with lower language abilities.

Conditions

The course complies with all rules as set in the Quality Standards of the Erasmus+ program. Courses are including an extracurricular cultural activity and a welcome lunch or dinner, and study groups are international. Note: should the latter condition not be met, participants will be informed 40 days in advance.

Payment facilities: participants with funding from the actual year’s project budget may ask to request a deposit of EUR 100 to guarantee their places on the course and pay the rest of the fees later.

It is possible to take part in 2 consecutive courses, please book both separately. A price reduction of 15% will be applied.
