Digital Awareness and Educational Efficiency


Objectives

The vast majority of teachers are digital immigrants, who grew up in the era of prints and television. The modern educational environment relies heavily on digital technology. The main goal of the course for the participants is to think about and handle digital equipment more consciously, thereby increasing the effectiveness of their usage in educational work. Command of English: minimum B1. Participants will also prepare a personal mini research project on a personal educational puzzle, following the SPRE stages to be presented at the on-site dissemination activity.

Learning outcomes

  1. Increased digital awareness: Participants will develop a more conscious view of computer-based educational technologies, gaining confidence in the use of their own digital equipment
  2. Increased technical knowledge and trust: Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the most common current era hardware and software environments, used for educational purposes. Knowing more about their gadgets will also increase their trust towards them.
  3. Enhanced creativity and innovation: Participants will develop the ability to use common office software tools and online apps more effectively in their educational work.
  4. Enhanced teamwork and collaboration: Participants will gain the skills necessary to work collaboratively with team members, delegate tasks, communicate effectively, and manage conflicts to achieve common goals.
  5. Sharing and learning good practices: Participants will have the opportunity to openly discuss technology-related problems and solutions from their educational work.

Learning programme and tasks

Day 1 Icebreaking activities
Participants introduce themselves and their schools. Teamwork: identifying common and unique features in their digital teaching environment.
Day 2 Make friends with files!
Participants will learn about the most common file types and problems associated with their creation, conversion and transfer between different digital equipment. Working in teams, based on problems from everyday educational work, participants will learn to select the most suitable file types for a given purpose, and how to handle them with confidence.
Day 3 Become a data wizard!
Spreadsheet editors, like Excel and Google Sheets, their use beyond printing a cute timetable. The participants will perform data analysis on problems from everyday educational work, also learn to visualize data effectively.
Day 4 Work with style and work in teams!
Speed up the creation and enhance the format of text documents and presentations with the use of styles and templates. In the second part of the day, participants will learn to improve teamwork with apps and online services, designed for this purpose.
Day 5 Show what you’ve learned!
Working in teams, participants will resolve a complex problem, presenting their solutions to their peers.
Day 6 Present your personal mini research project!
Present your personal mini research project following the SPRE stages to be at the on-site dissemination activity, gaining evaluation and further ideas to your own puzzle. Hear your peers’ evaluation, and also their presentations and reflect on them. After the event, a final discussion and wrap up follows, and the participants will receive their certificates. (*presentations, wrap-up and certificate award will take place on Day 5 in case of 5-day courses).
Language level: English B1 and above*
Locations: Budapest (Hungary) and Pula (Croatia)
Time: 9 AM to 2:30 PM daily (extracurricular activities outside of learning activities)
Dates: Budapest: 29 March – 2 April 2024 (5 days, 25 lessons)
Pula 29 July – 3 August, 5-10 August, 2024 (6 days, 30 lessons)
Price: €510 (6 days), €430 (5 days) including extracurricular cultural activities and welcome dinner

*The language of the course is English, linguistic aid may be provided for speakers of Hungarian with lower language abilities

The course complies with all rules as set in the Quality Standards of the Erasmus+ program. Extracurricular activities are in addition to the lessons, and study groups are international. Note: should the latter condition not be met, participants will be informed 40 days in advance.

Payment facilities: participants with funding from the actual year’s project budget may ask to request a deposit of EUR 100 to guarantee their places on the course and pay the rest of the fees later.

It is possible to take part in 2 consecutive courses, please book both separately. A price reduction of 15% will be applied.
